Tough Match of ‘Dong Yi’ and ‘The Birth of The Rich’

Two Korean dramas in the same time slot are involved in a tough match. ‘Dong Yi’ which is 49th MBC Anniversary Special Project Drama competes with KBS2 comedy romantic drama ‘The Birth of The Rich’ for captivating the audiences.

Referring to TNS, ‘Dong Yi’ was recorded rating of 15,3% for the fifth episode, whereas ‘The Birth of The Rich’ has lead for 16,2%.

I think the result may change every time, because each drama has their own strong to attract the viewers. ‘Dong Yi’ which started with 11,4% for the first episode is still on the rise. Last week, the rating rose slightly to 12,3% (13,6% according to AGB Nielsen Media Research), then in the fifth episode climbed to 15,3%. I think the appearing of adult characters which are Han Hyo Joo and Ji Jin Hee is the reason for it. The audiences are curious to see a sweet woman played by Han Hyo Joo and a charismatic King Sukjong played by Ji Jin Hee.

Meanwhile, the rival ‘The Birth of The Rich’ starring Lee Bo Young and Ji Hyun Woo has lead slightly till now. The director presents a fun drama with comedy romantic genre for the audiences. While ‘Dong Yi’ just begins with the adult characters, ‘The Birth of The Rich’ has grown the love story among the casts. So, it is no wonder if this drama has been ahead of the time.

I like both of the dramas so far, and ensure that the ratings still on the rise since the dramas are pretty good.
