‘Reign of Assassins’ to Release on October 14

The upcoming John Woo’s romantic-thriller-action movie ‘Reign of Assassins’ is set to release at local theaters on October 14, according to the film’s importer Sane Company Inc. on Thursday. The film stars top Chinese actress Michelle Yeoh (‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon‘) and Korean actor Jung Woo Sung (‘The Good, The Bad, The Weird‘)

‘Reign of Assassins’ is set in ancient China, Zeng Jing (played by Michelle) is a skilled assassin who finds herself in possession of a mystical Buddhist monk’s remains. She begins a quest to return the remains to its rightful resting place, and thus places herself in mortal danger because a team of assassins is in a deadly pursuit to possess the remains which holds an ancient power-wielding secret. Meanwhile, Jung plays an ordinary postman with extraordinary martial arts skill who helps Zeng Jing returning the remains and come together to fight off a gang of assassins.

The movie is directed by Taiwanese filmmaker Chao Bin Su and produced by veteran director John Woo, who helmed projects including ‘Mission: Impossible II’ and ‘Red Cliff I & II’, with his long-time partner Terence Chang.

Besides two big stars mentioned above, there are Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, Shawn Yue,and the other Chinese stars Xueqi Wang, Xiaodong Guo, and Yiyan Jiang who will appear in the movie.
