Kim Hyun Joong Chosen for Male Lead in ‘Playful Kiss’
This is it! After several actor’s names have been talked for the possibility to star in the most discussed upcoming romantic comedy Korean drama ‘Playful Kiss’–the Korean remake of ‘Itazura na Kiss’ and ‘It Started with a Kiss’– , finally Kim Hyun Joong of SS501 is chosen for the lead role. He has eliminated his rivals Jung Yong Hwa and DBSK’s Chang Min for the lead role in the drama.
Kim’s management agency stated that although they haven’t formally signed the contract but the decision has been final. In Korean remake, Kim will play the character originally played by Kashiwabara Takashi in Japanese version and Joe Cheng in Taiwanese version. His character’s name is Bae Seung Jo, a cool and distant boy who always be the best at everything at school. He falls for a clumsy and not-so-bright girl named Moon Ha Ni, who has yet to be cast.
Meanwhile, there is no final decision for its female lead. They have auditioned over 100 female stars for it and the top contenders right now are Park Shin Hye, and f(x)’s Sully. Park Bo Young originally has been in the top priority for the role, but due to her legal woes with her management agency, she is being kept in reserve. Another actress who have been talked for the roles is Kara’s Han Seung Yeon, but she has recently dropped out because of her group’s Japan Schedules.
‘Playful Kiss’ is scheduled to take over So Ji Sub’s current Korea War drama ‘Road No. 1’ slot in early September.

i am not so interested with mischievous kiss anymore because i find kim hyun joong a little bit boring if lee min ho will be in it i will be MORE exciting

more boring in personal taste to watch than to mishievous kiss…personal taste was not in the high ratings compared to boys over flowers..don’t pretend you have to watch mischievous kiss since you are not khj’s fans..you know personally that khj is famous around the world than your lee min ho

better i choose jang geun seok…..whatever he not to famous, he has caracter to be naoki in japanezz…..i love naoki as kasiwirabara…..
hmm…i’m not sure if i’ll like khj in this series…i do like his mysterious guy attitude but his role in “playful kiss”, maybe not.i watched joe cheng play this role and khj ‘s not like that…oh well, that’s what i see it as…

rizza I agree with you kim huyng joong famaos than lee minho in asia . he is very good actor and singer. and kim hyun joong is’t boring he is very charm and sensitive. this role good suit him.
I think we shouldn’t comment on the actors until we see him act.

yeah, i’m glad Park Shinhye and Jung Yonghwa didn’t get the lead roles. Park Shinhye kinda ruined that drama they were both in even though Lee Hongki and Jang Geunsuk were in it, too. I don’t know anything about the original version..is it the Chinese or Japanese version. Maybe I’ll try watching both of those, too. The Korean version with Kim Hyunjoong is really good. He plays the cold, passive character very well making me crazy for him! =P
